Looking this good isn't easy with 2 kids
As so many families know, when you have the time and opportunity to get family photos you seize the moment. Lydien contacted me with a need for a family photo session in celebration of her birthday. Time was of the essence and needed to be next day. Although a Wednesday afternoon is usually calm, this particular one was quite busy. We scrambled with finding alternate dates and time. The end result was no other day was going to work. We came up with doing the session in a very tight slot right before another session.
Lydien arrived in a stunning blue dress looking more of a runway model in her 20's than a mother of 2. Her entourage was in tow coordinating perfectly. The only downside was they were running late (#momlife, #kidchaos) We were under the pressure of time and got straight to work.
Feeling excited to photograph such a beautiful family I began preparing the family for the first set of portraits. DARN it all! The baby was not happy to be woken and proceeded with a grumpy little furrow on his cute little face. Time to make happy time with the little man. Soon I realized their perfectly adorable daughter was feeling on the silly rambunctious side. Strike 3 for calm on the already tight session. It was time to regroup and get things happy, calm, and redirect the kids attention. Mom and Dad were doing great but we all new the pressure of time was not on our side. Dad got the little man feeling much more calm and happy, while a little stuffed dog I brought in for the session was keeping their daughters attention directed nicely. After promising her some photos of her and the puppy she quickly joined her mom in the first set of photos.
The end result of all the patience, redirection, and great job by the parents resulted in some stunningly beautiful photographs of a perfectly lovely family. Moral of the story is on the tough days don't sweat the small stuff, go with the flow, redirect and create something beautiful. I must say Lydien and her family are looking fantastic.
